Strengthening our community now to grow and prosper into the future
“It’s important to attract these
larger, regional, farm focused
events into our area, to ensure
growers have access to relevant
information and key networks”

weekend storms
Over the very wet February weekend, when we received
over 100 ml of rainfall, the Shire had crews on standby
for emergency purposes. As an outcome of the wet and
wild weather, crews removed 10 trees from various
roads throughout the Shire, as well as placing warning
and closed road signage where required. Roads were
closed where they were considered to be dangerous or
where continued use would result in extensive damage
to the road infrastructure.
Since the end of the rain event, the Shire has
commenced an inspection all the roads in the Shire.
Where possible, some interim repairs will be undertaken
to enable the roads to be accessed. It is anticipated that
some longer term repairs will be required to those roads
that have been severely damaged.
The Shire is working towards having roads open as soon
as possible. Within the town site Shire crews have been
removing mud, gravel and vegetation from the drains. It
is anticipated that over the next week, the Shire will work
towards clearing all the mud and gravel that flowed
along streets during the weekend rain event.
