Recycling
A kerbside recycling service is also provided by Avon Waste. Your 240L recycling bin (yellow lid) will be collected on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Regional Waste Facilities
The Shire of Corrigin has worked with the Shires of Kondinin, Kulin and Narembeen to establish a regional waste facility which has replaced the existing landfill sites in each of the towns. The new regional waste facility is centrally located in the Shire of Kondinin. The Corrigin site has been converted to a transfer station which encourages the separation of waste and increased recycling.
Drum Muster
DrumMuster is a program set up to collect cleaned chemical drums for processing to enable reuse of the materials the drums are made from. More information on this program including what drums are eligible and the cleanliness standard required can be found at www.drummuster.com.au.
The Shire is a signatory to the DrumMuster program and along with the Apex Club runs approximately two collections at the beginning and end of the year. Approved drums can be dropped off at the Waste Transfer Station, Brookton Highway by appointment.
If you wish to make a booking for the drum collection, please contact the Shire Office for an appointment.
ASBESTOS DISPOSAL
Do you need to dispose of some material which contains asbestos, or suspected asbestos containing materials?
You are able to dispose of asbestos containing materials at the Shire of Corrigin’s Waste Management facility:
- If you have pre-booked a disposal appointment with the site operator or the Shire office; and
- On Saturdays only
If you are transporting asbestos to the facility for disposal the load must be:
- Non-friable asbestos, meaning it must be bonded asbestos; and
- Separated from other waste; and
- Double wrapped in heavy duty plastic (200 μm minimum thickness), with all edges fully sealed by appropriate tape; and
- Labelled ASBESTOS on the package
The above requirements are essential when presenting to the facility with your load, otherwise a $1000 fine may apply.
To ensure that you are able to unload safely at the facility, as a minimum requirement please ensure:
- that smaller packages are able to be lifted, or
- if they are large and heavy, they must be on pallets so they can be forklifted from your trailer with a loader.
- consider using a licenced asbestos removalist if large quantities (>10m2) are being considered for removal.
The cost of disposal is $75 per cubic metre or part thereof.
