Other Submissions

Formal Submissions

A person may make a formal written submission, under Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.  These submissions are heard at Council.  S223 Processes are generally undertaken for major Council decisions.

Formal submissions must be in writing, addressed and sent to:

Chief Executive Officer
Corrigin Shire Council
9 Lynch Street,
Corrigin WA 6375

Or via email, attention of the Chief Executive Officer: shire@corrigin.wa.gov.au

Hearings

Any person lodging a Submission may request to be heard in support of the submission, or be represented by a person specified in the submission. This must be requested in your written submission.  Formal submissions and representations will be considered and heard at an open Hearing meeting of the Council.   Please note that copies of submissions (including submitters’ names and addresses) will be made available and that Council is also required to make submissions available for public inspection for a period of 12 months.

Informal Submissions

Council appreciates that some residents would prefer to provide feedback, but not go through the formal submission process. Although this process is not accepted as a formal submission that Council must consider and respond to, it does keep Council informed about the community’s response before deliberating.  Often where informal submissions are open, Council will utilise the 'Our Say' Platform to call for comments, votes etc.
